| 57ft 6in x 12 ft 3in Dutch Tjalk Barge on residential mooring on the River Lea in Hertford, Herts. Originally built in Holland as a sailing barge around 1917 but later converted to a motor barge. A new steel cabin was added in 2000 with fit-out completed in 2001 by Oxford Cruisers. The boat has one double bedroom with an additional double sofa-bed in the saloon. Heating is via an Esse Diesel Stove in the galley to radiators throughout the boat. 'De Liefde' means 'my true love'. |

Ford 592E 4 Cylinder 56hp water cooled diesel engine built in the late '50s, boxed in and fitted at the aft end of the cabin. Paragon gearbox. Diesel tank capacity approx 45 gallons.

Built in Holland in approximately 1917 as a flat bottomed sailing barge with a rivetted iron hull and subsequently converted to a motor barge, she was brought over to the UK in 1992. In 2000 Oxford Cruisers added a steel cabin to replace the hold covers and completed the internal fit-out in 2001. At the same time the submerged hull was completely overplated using 6mm mild steel except for a small area at the immediate stern which was found to be free of defects. Detailed surveyors reports of the remedial work carried out are available.

The steel cabin is lined in oak and insulated with spray foam.
The 'new' cabin has black powder coated aluminium framed arch-top windows with bottom opening hoppers. The original cabin has a pair of aluminium sliding windows on each side. There are four opening portholes altogether, three of which are glazed with stained glass plus two chromium plated non-opening portholes in the forward bulkhead of the cabin.
There is a large wooden opening double glazed skylight over the saloon and galley and wooden raised opening glazed hatch over the bathroom. |

Oak fitted airing cupboard containing immersion heater up against three quarter height bulkhead separating galley. 3 seat sofa bed in terracotta coloured fabric to be included in sale.
GALLEY: Size approx 11ft 1in x 9ft 2in above gunwale. Esse Doric diesel stove (new in 2001) with back boiler heating three panel radiators, polished black granite worktops, central 'island' unit and sink unit with 'Shaker' style cupboards in ivory white, stainless steel 1 1/2 sink with stainless steel mixer tap, Inlander 24volt fridge under island unit, full size washing machine to be included in sale. Storage cupboards under gunwales on starboard side. 1 radiator.
CABIN: Approx 6ft 9in x 9ft 2in above gunwale, 11ft 2in below gunwale. 4ft 6in double bed with storage and stainless steel holding tank built in beneath. 6ft wardrobe with 3 sliding doors built in, plenty of shelving under gunwales and cupboard space in bulkhead. 1 radiator.

MOORING: The mooring is on the edge of Hertford but an easy flat walk into the town centre and Hertford East railway station with good links into London Liverpool Street. The Hertford North to Kings Cross line also has a station on the other side of Hertford. The mooring is a few hundred yards away from Hertford Lock and the open common land of Hartham Common.
The mooring has a supply of electricity which is shared between 3 other boats. There is water on site and mail is delivered to a mail box beside the boat, it also has a postcode and BT telephone line. The mooring has a small garden which measures 58ft x approx 10ft. The price also includes a shed (8ft x 6ft), spare Porta Potti and brand new Charnwood Country Four multi fuel stove and accessories.
